Illustrating “Your Body is Magic” with Hope Dworaczyk Smith

Over the course of my career, it’s been my great honor to collaborate on projects that empower women. These projects have taken me to some very interesting places and connected me with truly amazing women. Coming out of the pandemic, I was honored to contribute to a project that highlighted the experience of motherhood. “Your Body Is Magic: Wellness Strategies for a Healthy Pregnancy and Birth” is the pregnancy guide we mothers deserve. Written by Hope Dworaczyk Smith, founder of the skincare brand MUTHA™, this book is all about authenticity. Without shying away from the challenges, it honors the female experience and celebrates the journey to motherhood for what it is—nothing short of magic!

With “Your Body Is Magic” coming up on its one-year anniversary, it’s a great time to pull back the curtain and show how this labor of love came to fruition.

Meeting Hope Smith

I’m a big believer in the importance of mindfulness and intention setting. While I was journaling, I realized that I wanted to focus on ideas that connected me to like-minded women. I wanted to work on projects that support and champion female empowerment. While I was meditating on my next move, Hope’s team reached out to me about collaborating on the book—manifesting my goals for the universe!

Developing the Vision

The relationship between Hope Smith and me developed very organically. It was a natural fit from the start. Hope truly lets every creative own their superpower. Early on in the process, she allowed me to explore my vision and the direction that would best compliment her beautiful words. I sent her a few sketches of my ideas for approval, and they really resonated with her. From there, we began fleshing out concepts and the emotional journey with movement through painting.

How Hope Empowers Other Women

The thing that drew me to Hope’s work was its sincerity. As a mother myself, it truly feels like an honest look at the journey of motherhood. No sugar coating; it’s supportive and reassuring. It recognizes and celebrates that we, as women, were made to do this—and it truly is magic!

There’s no smoke and mirrors, but the spark is there regardless.

Mainfest Your Goals From Motherhood and Beyond

A big part of being ready to collaborate is meditating and setting intentions. This manifestation of goals has led me to many amazing journeys, like working with Hope. I was so happy to help Hope execute her vision of guiding mothers through a truly life-changing journey. In my latest work, “Focus Pocus,” I developed a 90-day guided journal designed with hand-letter prompts reflecting on self-love and positive action.
